"One of the most interesting things we can do in our lives is travelling". That was what she thought. The tickets were on the table and she could not believe it. Since she had read the novel "Murder in the orient-express” by Agatha Christie, she dreamed about travelling in that train. Her husband knew it very well.
And the boarding day arrived …..
Everything was perfect….
That night she was wearing her best evening dress but…. something happened. "A murder!, now, in the orient-express!, she thought: - This is impossible, as in the novel…" and immediately she began to investigate like Poirot.
The deceased was an important Russian diplomat, there were many important reasons to kill him because he had many enemies. His wife was much younger and also she had a lover. “ It's very exciting”- she thought.
In the end it was clarified, the important Russian diplomat had had a heart attack. "What a shame!”…..” It was starting to get interesting”……."Well... I will enjoy the journey…"- she decided.
Moral: Sometimes we only see what we want to see. Life is not always a novel.
As an extraordinary journey, she left some webpages below that may interest you ….
Good luck, perhaps we may be a new Poirot.
About the Orient Express
Orient Express in English and French is the name of the service of a long-distance train at its peak, linking Paris to Constantinople (now Istanbul). Since its opening in 1883 until today, its route was altered several times, either by logistical or political issues. It was considered one of the world's most luxurious trains, with passengers from wealthy bourgeoisie including even members of the European aristocracy.
Now, every day, the orient-express departs at 17:16 from Gare de l'Est from Paris to Vienna, arriving at 08:30 the next day. Although it may have lost much of its pomp, it is still considered one of the most convenient ways to get Austria from France.
Taking advantage of the fame of the Orient Express, in 1982 the English entrepreneur James Sherwood opened the service Venice-Simplon Orient Express (VSOE). Having bought and renovated several Pullman cars of the 20s and 30s, now it works with an expensive service (£ 1,200 per person) between London and Venice in the period between March and November. Contrary to what the site says, the Venice-Simplon has nothing to do with the original Orient Express, 1883, the Wagon-Lits.
