The ebola Vaccine: Is it safe?

Today we haven't got a save Ebola vaccine available to individuals. But, however there is a lot of research in the development of a safe and effective Ebola vaccine. According to background information Ebola is very infectious and it is transmitted from person to person very easily. Prevention is the best way to protect against Ebola virus. But unfortunatly isolation has not been very effective. The National Institute of Health (NIH) annouced that initial treatment testing in a research vaccine to prevent Ebola virus disease was begun in September 2014. This phase 1 on clinical trial will help investigation at the NIH and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and will determine the safety and efficacy of a new vaccine against Ebola. Another research is being developed in Canada by the Public Health Agency and the NewLink Genetics Corps. In addition the NIH has partnered with the British consortium to test the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious diseases/GSK vaccine in the United Kindom and in the west African Countries of Zambia and Mali.

Finally, NIH is supporting two other experimental vaccines producers ( Crucell and Profectus Biosciences) and is collaborating with Tomas Jefferson University to develop a vaccine. NIH hopes that one or more of these experimental vaccines may be shown to be safe and effective against Ebola by late 2014 or early in 2015.
