My work experiences, by Begoña

Hello Guys!!!

After eight summers working in a public swimming pool, I became a civil-servant and my first destination was a town shelter (Albergue Municipal).

A little time passed, when Miss Bernabea arrived in a freezing January afternoon. She was escorted by a couple of policemen.

-          Her appearance was: short and tiny.  She had long, straight and white hair which she was trying to hide with an old-fashioned wool hat.  Her clothes were old and a bit dirty.  Her skinny and fragile hands were holding an enormous bag.

-          She could be in her last seventies.  She was really bewildered and weak.  She felt miserable and weepy.  When we made her become calmer, she told us her story…

Afterwards, she got cleaned.  She opened her back bag, and started to take out plastic bags which were full of money and more money.  She intended to pay for nuisance she thought she was causing.  The money was counted and a paper was filled out to hand in to the judge on duty.  She spent the night there, but she left next morning and  never came back.

One month later, I was transfer to another place.  I started to work in a nursing home (Casa Amparo).  Oh my God!! I saw my special “friend”! She recognized me, and we were glad to see each other again.  Bernabea looked much better and more cheerful.  I thought to mysefl “the Government not always works late and bad”.

All in all, I don’t want you to think it is a sad story, since Bernabea was alone in the world.  Now she had found a new family who is looking after her.

See you in class, by Begoña

2.-  Do you think there are jobs that have to be vocational? Or on the contrary,  can they be learned?

3.-  Have you ever thought what you will do when you are retired?

Have a good day!
