OUR HOME-LOVING VEGETABLE PATCH-Miguel & Rocío

One year ago, my girlfriend and I decided to advance in our relationship. Both undertook a new path in La Puebla de Alfindén, since we bought a cute house. Our beautiful home has got a nice big garden that, nowadays, it's our ecological supermarket, that is, our home-loving vegetable garden. Really, we are very happy since we are growing all kinds of vegetables such as, tomatoes, carrots, onions, aubergines, garlics, potatoes, radishes, lettuces, celeries, leeks, Swiss chards, spinaches, artichokes, cauliflowers, and much much more.
Depending on the season, there are more suitable seeds to cultivate than others. For instance, now, autumn is a good period for planting grains and seeds such as rabishes, broad beans, garlics, artichokes, celeries, leeks, Swiss chards, peppers, cauliflowers and so on. If you would like vegetables out of season, you'll have to buy and install a greenhouse. It's a handy advice if you would like to eat tomatoes or courgettes in winter.
On the other hand, you can also plant a lot of fruit trees. We have planted two cherry trees, two apple trees, two laurels (trees), an olive tree, a lemon tree and an orange tree. If you would like to plant some fruit tree, be careful if you only buy one of each sort, because they have to pollinate!.
In addition, if you have some pot ....

Therefore, you'll need to take care of your plants, flowers, fruit trees and to prevent possible plagues and diseases, to water abundantly above all in summer and to use organic fertilizer to contribute to protect the environment.

  • Have you ever grown vegetables?
  •  Would you like to have your own home-loving vegetable patch?
  •  Do you dare to try it?
  • Do you think you would be a good farmer?  Give reasons.
