BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November). Since the early 2000s, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the US, and most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) and offer promotional sales. Black Friday is not an official holiday, but California and some other states observe "The Day After Thanksgiving" as a holiday for state government employees, sometimes in lieu of another federal holiday such as Columbus Day. Many non-retail employees and schools have both Thanksgiving and the following Friday off, which, along with the following regular weekend, makes it a four-day weekend, thereby increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005, although news reports, which at that time were inaccurate, have described it as the busiest shopping day of the year for a much longer period of time.   Similar stories resurface year upon year at this time, portraying hysteria and shortage of stock, creating a state of positive feedback.

"We should teach our children to eat healthy" by Eva Aylagas

I'm going to start explaining the extreme  importance of teaching good eating habits to the children.
We are taking care of them daily, trying they don't hurt themselves but we forget the essential lesson: A correct diet.

I've got two children, and I know exactly what I try to explain you. I know how difficult  it is you're fighting the whole day with them about everything. Since early in the morning till the end of the day.
It's exhausting, and many times we want to stay arround the table just quiet and happy. For this reason we surrender and give them what they want like hot dogs, hamburguers, chips, pizza, etc...
We often forget the importance of eating vegetables and fruits. In addition, I want to remember the special place of drinking fresh water. There are a lot of children who only drink soft drinks like cola. This is very dangerous for them, because these  products have got highly caloric values and contains a high quantity of sugar.  This is bad and addictive. Childhood obesity is increasing everyday and this will be a serious medical problem nowadays and in the nearest future.

In conclusion, I want to give you an advice:
TO GIVE A HEALTHY EATING HABITS TO YOUR KIDS IS THE BEST PRESENT YOU CAN GIVE THEM.  Sooner or later, they will agree with you.

BOOKS OR E-BOOKS?

Hello, I'm Arancha from the Intermediate English course. I 'd like to tell you about my experience with the e-book.

One of my hobbies are the books, I like reading very much all kind of books but specially historical novels. Three years ago my husband gifted me an e-book for my birthday and I didn't like it very much since I thought a tradicional book was better.  You can see the title, the writers's name, the pages, besides you can feel the paper and I thought it was a warmer way to read.

However one day my husband put in the e-book the last Ken Follet's novel, (my favourite writer) who was about one thousand pages, and I started  to read it.  Suddenly I discovered that the e-book was lighter than a thick book, furthermore it hasn't got a light inside therefore my eyes are not tired like when I read in a computer.

After that I fell in love with e-books and actually I sometimes read books from the library and other times novels in the e-book and I enjoy both kinds of reading.
I just think the important thing is to read.
See you soon.

Flood by climate change

Today I am going to talk about climate change and about the world map made by the central climate organization.

Firstly I am going to explain what is climate change. Climate change is a change in the climate temperature caused by the human being.  As I think that explain it, it is a little difficult, I recommend  you this LINK where everything is very well explained.

Secondly I am going to note down that the "climate central" is an independent organization which investigates about climate change and its direct impact on the world.   This organization has made a world map with the help of Google Maps and Google Earth.  In this map you will be able to see if your city could flood because a temperature increase of just 2º or 4º Celsius degrees.  HERE you will be able to see the map and as the Ebro Delta could be exterminated after that global warming.  Also there are some photos as this one below.

Finally I would like to know your opinion about climate change and what could be made to combat it.  For example you  can use energy-efficient light bulbs, switch off the computer, ride a bike instead driving a car, use less hot water or cut down on it, adjust the heating thermostat or just plant a tree.

Can you think in any other measures which could also help?  Let us know about them.

See you soon¡¡¡¡

IS IT SMOKING A RIGHT? by Chelo

"It is disgraceful to ban smoking in pubs or restaurant. We should have the right to choose"

At the beginning my classmate and I were thinking about the topic. In fact, We haven't got the same opinion: My classmate thinks the best solution about smoking in public places is to split the room into two spaces, one for smokers and the other one for nonsmokers. But I don't really agree with him because I prefer that people smoke at the street  since a cigarrette can damage the people around.

We wanted to know what  the rest of the class thought about this subject. For this reason we prepared  some questions to interview them.

Next, we were talking with our classmates about the topic. We realized that nobody in the class smokes and almost all the people thought that smoking is a big expense.  It depends on every family economy, but little by little the price is increased. So nowadays few people can't  afford to buy cigarrettes.
On the one hand doctors remarks that smoking is very harmful, and on the other hand it has to be very difficult to stop smoking for a smoker.
I would like my husband gives up smoking but he needs willpower.

In short, every person is free to choose... but always the health of persons around you must be regarded and protected.
