OKINAWA DIET by Begoña


Okinawa is a southern island in Japan, it is known because of its inhabitants are the most longevous in the country.  There, people has a high life expentancy.  Many live for more than 100 years.
Scientists and dieticians have lived with these people, and after some time, they have found out their diet combined with exercise is the best, and they have called it the Okinawa diet.

To be as happy as them you should follow their diet.  Among their recommendations, you could include, soya, tofu and rice.  You should avoid drinking alcohol, and substitute tea for coffee.  You don’t have to eliminate meat from your diet but you’d better eat more fish.
You mustn’t forget to include calcium found in dairy products, which are indispensable for your bones and mainly for women.  An ancient Japanese proverb called Hara Hachi Bu says: stop eating when are satisfied, not full.
The success of their healthy diet is the combination of daily exercise like walking, and slow movements that are adapted to their age.
Their philosophy is simple: Be positive, enjoy with simple things for instance: watch a sunrise or sunset, and share happy moments with family and friends.
