Japanese Life -日本の生活- (NATACHA GORMAZ)

JAPANESE LIFE STYLE

I think Japanese people have a very curious lifestyle which is very different from ours.  There are many things that make a difference between the Japanese culture and the Spanish one, among them you can find  household aspects.
As examples our walls are usually made of cement and theirs, of wood.  Their doors are usually Japanese panels called  Shoji, or just screens or room dividers.  When you get into a Japanese house, immediatly you have to take off your shoes and you just walk barefoot at home because they have Tatami, I mean Japanese straw mats.  The furniture is also different, their tables are made to sit on the floor on cushions.

The bedrooms are differents as well, because they sleep on a futon, same as a slepping-bag, this mattress during the day is stored in cupboards or bedding closets called Oshiire to have more space in the rooms.

What to say about the bathrooms?  Almost all the rooms are different, such as the bath, called Ofuro.  In there, they just go into the bath and they plunge their shoulders not for cleanliness, only for relaxing and meditation, because they have had a shower before getting into the Ofuro,  that way it's better for relaxing.

All those described things are not made to decorate their houses or because of aesthetic aspects, it's just a question of spiritual and religous sense and to create a relaxing atmosphere.

For them it is very important  to live without stress.

In order to know the Japanese culture you can see this interesting video, you will get involved into the Japanese life-style :
